Wetlands for Life
How to vote for your wetland
If you would like nominate an important wetland for a blue or grey globe award,
here is how you do it:
1. Make sure you are registered. Simply go to the ‘vote / register’ button, fill in your details, and you will be approved within a few days. Your application, and all votes, will be anonymous.
You can then go on to vote.
2. Sign in to your account, then go to the ‘wetlands awards’ page.
3. Go to the ‘International Wetland Map’ and select the region that you are interested in (this does not have to be the region in which you are based). This will bring up a google map of Ramsar sites. If you connection is slow, this may take a little while so please be patient!
4. Click on the wetland and a box will appear, with the name of the wetland and ‘vote for this wetland’. Click on ‘vote for this wetland’ and you will see a drop down of criteria; you may vote for as many of these as you like. Press ‘vote’ and your votes will be added to our database. You may only vote for each wetland once. If the wetland you are interested in is not shown, see next step.
5. To register a new wetland, go to ‘my account’. This will give you a choice on the
right hand side to ‘Submit a wetland’.
6. Fill in the details, remembering that this awards scheme is for ‘wetlands of
international or national importance’. Guidance on what this means can found on the link
to the Ramsar website.
7. Submit your wetland. This will be checked by our regional representative, and then
added to the map for you and others to vote on. Please vote by the 31st of March 2012.
If you have a problem, please do not hesitate to ask us. Good luck!
